Entirely hand sewn from natural homespun hemp cloth,
Gorgeous Deep blue shade
Open l collar, heavy gathering at the back and sleeve ends. Gusseted under the arms for ease of movement and open sides at the bottom.
Beautifully made and wonderful piece of French history.
Unisex, Relaxed fit
In surprisingly great condition when you consider its' age and usage. There are some areas of wear in the fabric, just a few unnoticeable holes we have found that add to its vintage character. This strong linen hemp cloth was made to last for generations, which indeed it has, although now after more than a hundred years of launderings , the fabric is more relaxed than it would have been as new and drapes beautifully. The blue is a bit mottled, like a stonewash
denim...with wear and washings, it will most likely take on the
old bleu de travail workwear look.
The perfect smock for casual wear, a coverall for artist or potters
or simply as rural chic look
